An adaption for theater of passages from James Joyces most experimental novel Finnegans Wake. From the Production Note by the playwright, Mary Manning:It is important that any director of Finnegan should avoid phoney brogues. Joyce has given the actor everything he needs- by clever phonetical spelling and rhythmical arrangements of sentences he has produced the lilting drawl of the Dubliner. Stage Irishisms would inevitably vulgarize the production. Finnegan has little to do with leprechauns, wee folk, or indeed, any shamroguery.

There were no roses round the door of the Haunted Inkbottle, no number, Brimstone Walk, Asia in Ireland.
